Cost Reduction Through Automated Bioremediation

The lowest-cost treatment technology is the one that reduces everything else.

The True Cost of Conventional Wastewater Management

Wastewater treatment facilities and industrial operators manage organic loads, suspended solids, FOG, and biological oxygen demand through a combination of physical, chemical, and biological processes. Each of those processes carries an operational cost: energy for aeration and mechanical separation, reagent spend for chemical treatment, hauling and disposal fees for biosolids and waste streams, and capital and maintenance costs for the equipment those processes require.

When the biological pretreatment capacity upstream from those processes is absent or insufficient, each downstream system must carry more load than it would otherwise require. Aeration systems run harder. Dewatering systems handle higher solids volumes. Hauling contractors move more material. Reagent consumption increases. The operational cost of the entire facility is determined, in large part, by the biology or the lack of it, at the front of the process.

Where Automated Bioremediation Reduces Cost

Hauling and Disposal

Biosolids hauling is among the highest direct operational costs in municipal and industrial wastewater management. EnBiorganic’s upstream bioaugmentation reduces total suspended solids by 63% and biosolids hauling costs by 62% in documented operational deployments. Fewer loads removed means direct reduction in contractor spend and disposal fees, with no capital modification to existing infrastructure required.

Upstream organic breakdown improves the dewaterability of the solids that remain. Reduced organic content and improved floc structure lower cake moisture, reduce polymer demand, and decrease energy input at centrifuges and belt presses. Lower cake moisture also means less total mass hauled, compounding the hauling cost reduction.

Fats, oils, and grease are reduced by 95% upstream through continuous biological breakdown. For facilities receiving high-FOG influent from food service, food processing, or industrial sources, this directly reduces the operational burden on primary clarifiers, grease traps, and downstream treatment stages, reducing hauling volume associated with FOG removal.

Reduced organic loading upstream decreases the demand for coagulants and flocculants throughout the treatment train, lowering chemical consumption and associated operating costs.

When upstream biological pretreatment reduces the load that existing infrastructure must process, system capacity is effectively increased without capital investment. Facilities facing capacity constraints or operating near design limits may be able to defer or avoid capital expansion by restoring the biological pretreatment function that conventional treatment design assumes but does not provide.

No Capital Modification Required

EnBiorganic’s microbial generators are modular add-ons that integrate with current infrastructure. Pilot deployment requires no excavation, no major equipment changes, and no disruption to existing treatment operations.

Pilot-Ready Evaluation

The technology is designed for phased pilot evaluation before full-scale commitment. Operators validate measurable performance against their specific influent and system conditions before expanding, consistent with utility and industrial procurement standards.

Safe, Certified, Compatible

All organisms introduced through EnBiorganic’s system are non-pathogenic, and Non-GMO. They do not inhibit nitrifiers or destabilize existing secondary biological treatment. The system is designed to enhance upstream performance without disrupting the downstream processes that a facility’s NPDES permit and operational compliance depend on.

Restoring the biology upstream is the most cost-effective intervention available. Everything downstream gets easier when the organic load arriving there is smaller.
